Compass with velvet case

Compass with velvet case

Did you know that the word "bússola" (compass) originates from the Italian "bussola", which literally means "small box"? This small object was the great driver that opened the world to the age of exploration. Although the principle of the magnetic needle was already used in China in the 3rd century BC and adapted for navigation around the year 1000, it was subsequent mechanical improvements, with the mounting on a fixed axis, that allowed navigators to cross oceans.

Material: Polished brass body and finishes.
