Royal Policies of Naval Logistics
Royal Policies of Naval Logistics
Ambitious and innovative in the research lines it reaches, the research carried out, now in book form, is an approach to royal policies on naval logistics during a crucial period for Portuguese maritime expansionism (1481-1640).
It seeks to present a statistical approach to the type and number of measures taken by the central power on key areas of naval logistics, namely: shipbuilding; navigation organization; naval defense and the training and accreditation of seamen - all decisive pieces in the levels of (un)success of the Portuguese Expansion.
Alongside a reflection on the management trends identified, which constitutes a second moment of this research, a methodological process is developed that involves the enumeration of measures taken by the Portuguese Crown, in the absence of a systematic survey on these matters.
