All maneuvers of a sailboat

All maneuvers of a sailboat

What is a good manoeuvre? It is, quite simply, a well-executed manoeuvre. Talking about it is easy, but executing it is not so easy, especially when the wind, current and swell are not helping. This is why people often refer to the art of manoeuvring – an art that requires a perfect understanding of the forces that influence the balance of a sailing boat. After a detailed journey through more than 300 clear and precise illustrations and 50 essential manoeuvres, the reader will learn everything about how to hoist the asymmetrical spinnaker, reef, use the engine, act in case of a "man overboard", tack or anchor, in addition to many other aspects clearly and concisely explained in this book.

François Chevalier is known for the quality of his drawings, charts, and illustrations. A naval architect by training, he is also the author of several reference works on the America's Cup and the history of recreational sailing. But it was certainly his experience of sailing in 505s and cruising yachts, and especially modern recreational sailing, that contributed most to making this book as accessible as it is technical enough to give all sailors the necessary desire to do more and better on board a sailboat.
